The 20 year old emcee, Kemizt, displays lyrical prowess and unmeasurable potential in every bar. Skillfully delivered lyrics are laid over compositions by great producers such as J Dilla & Nujabes (RIP), Kev Brown, Statik Selektah, Flying Lotus, etc. The most impressive matter is the wide range of creativity shown from song to song, each one vastly varying from the next. Concepts incorporate everything from relationships to personal struggles to the general consensus of the state of the game. Every track transcends into reality, bridging the gap between himself and the listener. Choosing a clear cut favorite on this mixtape is a very difficult feat in itself. This is a potential classic for any lover of Hip Hop.

the whole offering is crammed together in one eighty megabyte mp3. he seems to like to do that.
by the way, godlee barnes is his 'alter-ego' so basically, its entirely produced, recorded, and mixed by him, with cuts by dj exile.
exile produced one track, the rest is all him.

i just realized i didn't have any jay electronica on the blog, so i had to do something about that. this dude is really becoming my favorite rapper, not only because of his skill, but his insight as well. he has many of hte same beliefs that i do. you have to listen closely.

the first song exhibit c is his latest drop, produced by just blaze. theres something about this song... it just brings back a feeling that i havent felt in hip hop in a long time.

the second song, 'the pledge', is the song that made me a jay electronica fan. he rhymes over the score of the movie eternal sunshine.

follow him on twitter.

Taken from Trey Songz' blog:

Many of you may ask, Why ANTICIPATION? Well lets break it down shall we:

An⋅tic⋅i⋅pa⋅tion [an-tis-uh-pey-shuhn] -noun
1. realization in advance, intuition; foretaste.
2. Musically - a tone introduced in advance of its harmony so that it sounds against the preceding chord.

Musically, I'm currently in a creative space like no other. I feel as though whenever a mic is put in front of me, I can do no wrong. At a time in the music industry where album sales are low, fans are fickle, inconsistent, or more into the various songs than they are the particular artist, I feel that I must give you a reason to love me. Embed in you a desire to love me and an appreciation for the music. I must show you that not only do I LOVE what I do but I also do it well.

The creation of ANTICIPATION began after I presented READY to my label the first time. I just started recording on my days off and the music felt great and decided that I'd rather share the music than let it sit and be idle. This is music without politics, without creative boundaries.

Troy (my mentor and founder & CEO of Songbook Ent.) and I have been making music since I was 15. There was a time when thoughts of monotonous melodies or redundant choruses weren't THE KEY to making a hit record. Music that just felt good. Although they're present at times the boundaries are endless in this body of work, giving you a (1) realization in advance to READY.

What do I mean by READY? Well, lets do this one more time.

Read⋅y [red-ee] –adjective
1. completely prepared or in fit condition for immediate action or use

I like to say don't get READY...STAY READY!!! But until then...Here is ANTICIPATION...
WHAT YOU WAITIN ON!? Are you READY?

i've had this mixtape for a while but i never thought to post it. trey songz promoted it again on his twitter today so i said fuck it. its a great mixtape... it sounds like an album. i recommend letting this album rock during sexytime.

i think trey songz is one of the last REAL musicians out there, especially when it comes to r&b. & i feel that i can definitely relate to that first paragraph up there.

my fault for the lack of updates recently. been maddd busy. finished a collab with grafh, been performing, and been trying to lock in on the rest of these tracks for the vigil.

MEANWHILE at the legion of doom, ayinde and my cousin e louis have been cooking up piffcakes. they actually recorded this in my room but i was knocked the fuck out.
