i just realized i didn't have any jay electronica on the blog, so i had to do something about that. this dude is really becoming my favorite rapper, not only because of his skill, but his insight as well. he has many of hte same beliefs that i do. you have to listen closely.

i think he's redeemed himself from the last vi.. whatever you would like to call it. not epic, but dope cinematography. i like this version of the song better too. but they need to make an extended version with weezy on it. im not as much of a weezy fan as most people but that verse is entertaining.

but some of drakes facial expressions in this video do look a little overdone. but thats just me being critical. i guess.

In a deal that combines two of entertainment's most popular brands, The Walt Disney Company announced its agreement to acquire Marvel Entertainment and its over 5000 characters in a stock and cash transaction. Marvel shareholders will receive $30 and 0.745 Disney shares for each share of stock they own. This brings the total price per share to approximately $50, making the total value of the deal around $4 billion.

Disney President and CEO Robert A. Iger explains:

"This transaction combines Marvel's strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney's creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories. Ike Perlmutter and his team have done an impressive job of nurturing these properties and have created significant value. We are pleased to bring this talent and these great assets to Disney."

Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel, adds:

"Disney is the perfect home for Marvel's fantastic library of characters given its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses. This is an unparalleled opportunity for Marvel to build upon its vibrant brand and character properties by accessing Disney's tremendous global organization and infrastructure around the world."

Perlmutter will continue to oversee Marvel's properties and will "work directly with Disney's global lines of business to build and further integrate Marvel's properties.

The deal has been approved by each company's board of directors but is still waiting for the approval of Marvel shareholders and anti-trust clearance.

The intersection of these two brands is sure to have a tremendous impact across all fields of entertainment given the recent success of the Marvel brand in movies and video games. It's unlikely that the deal with affect the publishing status of the Paramount movies or Activision games, but the status of the Marvel presence at Universal's theme park is unclear.

UPDATE: More details were revealed in an investor call this morning. It was announced that Disney XD is likely to be the new home for Disney-produced Marvel features on TV. Representatives on the call praised Marvel's existing licensing deals, saying that Marvel has "done a good job at keeping attractive deals in place" and suggested that "those deals stay in place." Deals for Fox's Fantastic Four, Sony's Spider-Man and Paramount's Iron Man won't be affected in the short term but according to Disney representatives, "it would be clearly be more attractive to us if, over time, we became the sole distributor of these films." Still, added Iger, "If it's not broke..."

More interestingly, Disney has reported lots of enthusiasm in internal talks between Pixar and Marvel. The company indicated that co-branding of properties isn't likely but that the two groups are looking "very expansively at all the opportunities."

On the game's front, Disney again praised Marvel's "smart licensing agreements with some of the best videogame manufacturers in the business" and offered assurances that games based on Marvel properties will not be exclusively created by Disney. In evaluating "what's best for the company" Disney won't "rule out the possibilities of a blend of licensed games as well as self-produced and self-distributed" titles.

i dont know how to feel about this. thats a weird couple. let's hope we don't see an aladdin cameo in the next origins film.

the PSPgo... the UMDless version of the playstation portable will be available october 1st, 2009. it looks dope, and i like the idea that it does away with the battery draining UMD drive. it will focus on digital downloads available for purchase on the playstation network instead of the 1.8gb universal media discs.

the 16gb of internal flash memory should be enough to hold at least 8 full psp games. it also comes with a slot for an m2 card which can double the memory (the largest m2 card as of now is 16gb).

the only bad part is... the PSPgo launches at $250... for those of you that own a psp 3000 (or an earlier model) like myself, you can easily fit 32gb of memory into it using two 16gb micro's and an adapter for about $100.

the PSPgo is sexy with its sliding screen and all, but i think i'll wait for a price drop. what about you?

this dude is basically a rapper from the same town as me that i hold in high regard. i got his first album Redemption from his cousin when i was in 6th grade and i've been a fan ever since. he goes in... classic new york rap. this is one of my favorite songs by him, along with "Maintain, Pt. II" & "Now."

not only is this just a dope track on his part, but it's produced by nicolay of the foreign exchange... one of my favorite producers.

Musically, I'm currently in a creative space like no other. I feel as though whenever a mic is put in front of me, I can do no wrong. At a time in the music industry where album sales are low, fans are fickle, inconsistent, or more into the various songs than they are the particular artist, I feel that I must give you a reason to love me. Embed in you a desire to love me and an appreciation for the music. I must show you that not only do I LOVE what I do but I also do it well.

The creation of ANTICIPATION began after I presented READY to my label the first time. I just started recording on my days off and the music felt great and decided that I'd rather share the music than let it sit and be idle. This is music without politics, without creative boundaries.

Troy (my mentor and founder & CEO of Songbook Ent.) and I have been making music since I was 15. There was a time when thoughts of monotonous melodies or redundant choruses weren't THE KEY to making a hit record. Music that just felt good. Although they're present at times the boundaries are endless in this body of work, giving you a (1) realization in advance to READY.

i've had this mixtape for a while but i never thought to post it. trey songz promoted it again on his twitter today so i said fuck it. its a great mixtape... it sounds like an album. i recommend letting this album rock during sexytime.

i think trey songz is one of the last REAL musicians out there, especially when it comes to r&b. & i feel that i can definitely relate to that first paragraph up there.

thats a full pad AND about 30 sheets of loose leaf with 8-32 bar verses.
i told you im a psycho when it comes to this shit. all that for a mixtape with only about 12-15 songs.

i had writer's block for a while but i got some shit done today. quite a bit actually. one more verse left, then just some optional shit i might wanna add on. i even wrote a song today that i had no intentions of putting on the vigil, but i just might. if not, i'll just record it at home and put it out before i drop the vigil.

and yea, thats my psp on the left in the picture. i still fux wit it. in between verses i was gettin it in with the final fantasy dissidia demo.

Everyone has a blog nowadays. Which is basically the main reason I didnt want one, but fuck it. My plan has been to release my mixtape (The Vigil) on my own personal blog, so I've had this site for a while in preparation. Then I figured it would be weird to have this shit just come out of the blue.

So. I will be updating this occasionally with shit that I think is noteworthy. Music, art, whatever I feel pertains to hip hop and/or me. Therefore, I will be only posting shit THAT I MYSELF like. It might all be flooded with my elitist opinions as well. If youre looking for all new shit go to 2dopeboyz or something.
